Employee Spotlight: Charting Growth with Tamara Ward
When Tamara started working for IC System seven years ago, she never imagined that she would come to lead IC System’s internal employee engagement and wellbeing committee. This year, in addition to her work as a Sales Operation Specialist, Tamara will be taking over leadership of the committee from Joseph Erickson, who was recently promoted to Vice President of Sales and Service.
Tamara is very excited to start this new role and encourage in-person employee connections: “I am really looking forward to the fact that we can bring things back in person. I think it will be a lot of fun to get that camaraderie back.”
Tamara actually worked for IC System as a collector in 2012 before returning to the company in 2017. “When I came back, I knew that I probably should have never left in the first place,” Tamara laughs. “I just knew that it was the right job and the right fit for me.” She really loves the sense of family that is inherent in IC System’s culture. “That’s something that you really don’t find everywhere.”
Tamara only worked as a Collection Representative for four months in 2017 before being promoted to a leadership position on the healthcare collections team. As a lead, she handled escalated calls and monitored call quality. She also helped with some Client Service tasks, such as reporting.
She worked as a lead for about nine months before she fully transitioned to the client services team and began her role as a Client Service Representative. In this role, she helped with reporting, assisted clients with any issues they were having, and ensured client satisfaction.
During her time as a Client Services Representative, Tamara also completed the Northeast Metro Young Professionals Group (NYMP) training, an 11-month program designed to develop the leadership skills of promising young professionals in the Northeast metro. “It was a really cool program and helped me see how different businesses are run,” Tamara said.
In 2020, Tamara was promoted to her current role as Sales Operation Specialist. On why she enjoys her current role, Tamara states, “I really like the collaboration between the team members. We’re very close and work very well together.” She also enjoys that she gets to work collaboratively with a lot of different departments.
Tamara has had a very impressive career trajectory with IC System, and we are very excited to see where she goes from here and which direction she will take the employee engagement and wellbeing committee in as she takes over leadership!
