I.C. System Charity Golf Tournament Raises Money for Military Heroes

St. Paul, MN (August 25th, 2011) – I.C. System recently hosted the 13th Annual I.C. System Charity Golf Tournament at Bristol Ridge Golf Course in Somerset, Wisconsin. This year’s tournament proceeds benefited two charities, The Heidi Kunz Memorial Scholarship Fund and Bryan McDonough Military Heroes Foundation.
“We appreciate the generosity shown by I.C. System. With their help the Bryan McDonough Military Heroes Foundation was able to raise $150,000 toward the construction of the Fisher House at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN, as well as providing assistance to individuals in need,” said Tom McDonough, Father of fallen soldier Bryan McDonough.
The Fisher House™ program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America’s military in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times – during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury – free of charge.
The Heidi Kunz Memorial Scholarship Fund supports a scholarship that is given each year to an exemplary female high school student attending Mahtomedi High School. The fund was created in memory of an I.C. System employee’s sister who was killed in a car accident.
The annual I.C. System charity golf event has supported a variety of charities in its 13 year history and consistently provides a great social event for vendors, clients and employees alike. “We are overwhelmed each year by the participation of our golfers and the money they donate above and beyond the entry fee, all in the name of charity. And we are thankful to have numerous business affiliates who donate prizes and sponsor holes. It is really a great event,” said Mary Hiles.
